uptobox[.]com offers a file hosting service. Users can upload their files and share them with other people, however, uptobox[.]com uses rogue advertising networks and contains illegal files such as set-ups of cracked software.

People who use uptobox[.]com are redirected to other, dubious websites. For example, apple.com-shield-device[.]live. In effect, uptobox[.]com is a deceptive site that tricks visitors into downloading and installing dubious software. It shows a fake virus alert and encourages visitors to remove 'detected threats' with the advertised software immediately.

In fact, uptobox[.]com might lead to other pages that promote browser hijackers, adware, and other PUAs. Browser hijackers change browser settings (promote fake search engines) and gather user-data. For example, IP addresses, URLs of visited pages, entered search queries, geolocations, etc.
